Implementation of Quarterly Return of International Banking Statistics

Banking Supervision Department 銀行監理部 Our Ref.: B1/15C 5 November 2014 The Chief Executive All Authorized Institutions Dear Sir/Madam, Implementation of Quarterly Return of International Banking Statistics (formerly, Return of External Positions) Further to my letter of 31 December 2013, I am writing to inform you that the STET system is now ready for your institution to submit the Quarterly Return of International Banking Statistics (MA(BS)21A and 21B). The first reporting position for the new return will be end-December 2014. As mentioned in my previous letter, authorized institutions (AIs) are required to submit both the old (MA(BS)9A and 9B) and new (MA(BS)21A and 21B) returns for the positions as of end-December 2014 and end-March 2015 to the HKMA according to the reporting deadlines specified in the respective completion instructions. After the parallel reporting, AIs will no longer be required to submit the old return starting from the position as of end-June 2015. The new return and its completion instructions can be accessed through the HKMA’s public (http://www.hkma.gov.hk) and private (http://www.stet.iclnet.hk/index.htm) websites. The templates for the submission of the new return through the STET system are now available on the private website for downloading.
