This launch accompanies the opening of the Fintech Supervisory Sandbox to Regtech projects and the initiation of work-streams under the Banking Made Easy initiative. The current issue specifically outlines Regtech use cases focused on cyber defence to enhance risk management and compliance efforts.
Our Ref.: B1/15C B9/29C 12 November 2019 The Chief Executive All Authorized Institutions Dear Sir/Madam, Inaugural Issue of Regtech Watch I am writing to draw your attention to the launch of a new newsletter series to promote Regtech usage in Hong Kong. Recognising the growing importance of Regtech, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has opened up its Fintech Supervisory Sandbox to Regtech projects and launched a series of Regtech work-streams under the Banking Made Easy initiative. The HKMA has since been reaching out to the banking industry, technology firms and consulting firms to understand latest Regtech use cases. During the process, a broad range of local and overseas Regtech use cases that may enhance the effectiveness of banks’ risk management and regulatory compliance efforts have been observed. The HKMA considers it useful to share these observations with the industry through a newsletter series, the Regtech Watch, with a view to further facilitating the use of Regtech by the banking sector. This inaugural issue outlines Regtech use cases in the area of cyber defence.
