Return of Leverage Ratio (Form MA(BS)27)

The Monetary Authority requires Authorized Institutions to submit the Return of Leverage Ratio using Form MA(BS)27 in accordance with section 63(2) of the Banking Ordinance. Combined and consolidated returns must be submitted within one month after the end of each quarter, with deadlines deferred to the next working day if they fall on a public holiday. The form mandates the disclosure of exposure measures, including on-balance sheet exposures, derivative exposures, securities financing transaction exposures, and other off-balance sheet exposures, alongside the calculation of the leverage ratio based on Tier 1 capital.

The information, in the form of the duly completed return, must be submitted to the Monetary Authority: (a) in the case of a combined return or consolidated return – within one month after the end of each quarter unless otherwise advised by the Monetary Authority; and (b) if the submission deadline falls on a public holiday, it will be deferred to the next working day.
