The Parliament of Belize enacted this Act to amend the Central Bank of Belize Act, primarily to further capitalize the central bank and update its regulatory framework. The legislation sets the authorized capital at fifty million Belize dollars and the paid-up capital at forty million dollars, while mandating that thirty percent of net profits be allocated to a General Reserve Fund. Additionally, the Act introduces definitions for investment grade securities and expands the types of collateral and securities the Bank may hold or trade.
