The United Nations Security Council Resolutions Implementation Act, 2013

The Parliament of Jamaica enacted this Act to implement decisions of the United Nations Security Council under Chapter VII of the UN Charter by empowering the Minister to make regulations proscribing persons, restricting assets, and controlling goods. The legislation establishes strict reporting obligations for financial and designated non-financial institutions to monitor proscribed assets and defines specific offences with severe penalties for contravening UN sanction enforcement laws or providing false information. Furthermore, the Act grants relevant authorities the power to compel the disclosure of information from government entities and individuals to ensure compliance with international sanctions regimes.
