The Central Bank of Jordan mandates licensed banks to implement new Foreign Exchange Instructions effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, abolishing all restrictions on the import and export of Jordanian and foreign currency, coins, payment instruments, and gold. Licensed banks are authorized to hold foreign currency reserves up to 15% of external liabilities, conduct transactions on margin and swaps, and open unrestricted foreign currency accounts for residents and non-residents. The regulations require banks to submit specific monthly reports to the Central Bank, designate Free Zones as foreign countries for regulatory purposes, and impose a 0.1% commission on foreign currency transfers for government and diplomatic entities.
