SEBI SWAGAT-FI Framework for FPIs and FVCIs

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended the FPI Master Circular to introduce the Single Window Automatic and Generalised Access for Trusted Foreign Investors (SWAGAT-FI) framework. This initiative simplifies onboarding and ongoing compliance for eligible entities, including government investors, regulated mutual funds, insurance companies, and pension funds, by granting them a 10-year registration validity and decennial KYC review cycles. The provisions, which include unified accounting experiences and specific eligibility criteria for identified jurisdictions, come into force on June 1, 2026.
