Law 50 of July 2, 2003, Adding Chapter VI on Terrorism to Title VII of Book II of the Penal Code and Enacting Other Provisions

The Legislative Assembly of Panama enacted Law 50 of 2003 to establish a comprehensive legal framework against terrorism by adding Chapter VI to the Panamanian Penal Code. The legislation defines terrorist acts, financing, recruitment, and attacks on diplomatic missions, prescribing prison sentences ranging from five to twenty years for these offenses. Additionally, the law mandates financial transparency for non-profit associations and assigns jurisdiction for terrorism cases to Superior Courts.
