The Bangladesh Bank establishes a Tk 3,000 crore refinance fund for scheduled banks to finance agricultural activities in the North Bengal region (Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions). Participating banks must distribute funds across four sectors: agricultural production (15%), preservation and infrastructure (35%), processing (35%), and exports (15%), with maximum loan limits ranging from Tk 30 lakh to Tk 40 crore depending on the sector. Banks receive refinance at a 4% interest rate from the central bank and may charge borrowers up to 9%, with loan tenors capped at 18 months for production and 36 months for other sectors.
