ACSPD Circular No. 08: Definition of Small & Medium Enterprise Sector

The document establishes revised definitions for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) based on total fixed assets (excluding land and buildings) and employee count, excluding ideal public limited companies. Small enterprises are defined by asset thresholds of 50,000 to 5,000,000 BDT for service and business sectors and up to 150,000,000 BDT for manufacturing, with employee limits of 25 and 50 respectively. Medium enterprises are defined by asset thresholds of 5,000,000 to 10,000,000,000 BDT for service and business sectors and 150,000,000 to 20,000,000,000 BDT for manufacturing, with employee limits of 50 and 150 respectively. This circular is effective immediately for all scheduled banks and financial institutions.
