This Act establishes the organic statute of the National Bank of Belgium, defining its nature as an integral part of the European System of Central Banks with a registered capital of ten million euros. It grants the Bank authority to conduct financial market transactions, manage official foreign currency reserves, and ensure the proper operation of clearing and payment systems. The legislation further empowers the Bank to supervise financial institutions and act as a resolution authority, while restricting data subject rights under GDPR to safeguard supervisory and resolution tasks.
