Credit institutions must aggregate United Kingdom exposures into the "Rest of World" category and explicitly report British Pound (GBP) data under "other currencies" in specified supplementary tables of Scheme A Book I. These reporting changes apply to tables 01.11, 01.21, 02.11, 02.12, 02.13, 02.22, 02.30, 03.41, 03.49, and 03.51, with validation rules updated to reflect the UK's departure. The new modalities enter into force upon the UK's actual exit from the EU, applying to the first monthly and quarterly reports following that event. If the UK does not leave the EU, the current reporting modalities remain in effect.

Adaptation of certain supplementary tables of Scheme A Book I in the event of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union
Scope
Credit institutions
Summary/Objective
This circular concerns a modification of Scheme A, Book I for credit institutions.
Madam,
Sir,
We hereby inform you that in the event of the United Kingdom's exit from the European Union (EU), the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) will need to make modifications to the scheme of periodic information to be communicated by credit institutions concerning their financial situation (Scheme A, Book I, scheme for social and territorial reporting).
Specifically, in order to continue to best satisfy statistical obligations vis-à-vis the European Central Bank while limiting the modifications made to the structure of Scheme A and thus the adjustments required at the level of credit institutions, the following adjustments will be made to certain supplementary description tables of Scheme A, Book I:
United Kingdom (GB) breakdown: the supplementary description tables used to calculate counterparties by country do not provide for this type of geographical breakdown for EU member states only; continuing to collect these breakdowns for GB after its exit from the EU would therefore require a restructuring of the structure of said tables, which is not desirable in the context of voluntary reporting; GB will therefore no longer be reported individually but only aggregated in the "Rest of World" category; this new reporting method applies to supplementary description tables 01.11, 01.21, 02.11, 02.12, 02.13, 02.22, 02.30, 03.41, 03.49 and 03.51;
British Pound (GBP) breakdown: continuing to collect GBP data in the supplementary description tables used to calculate currency breakdowns does not require any structural modification but only an adjustment of the comments on said tables, namely the addition of an explicit reference to GBP in the list of "other currencies" to be reported individually (modifications in bold in the text in the annex); this new reporting method applies to supplementary description tables 01.11, 01.21, 02.11, 02.22, 03.41 and 03.51.
The structure of the tables will therefore remain unchanged but certain validation rules will nevertheless have to be adapted, and in particular the quarterly concordance rules for the territorial situation, by currency, including EUR. The new validation rules applicable in the event of the United Kingdom's exit will be available on the NBB website from February 11, 2019 (RulesFR).
The new reporting modalities detailed above will enter into force at the time when the United Kingdom exits the EU. Until further notice, they will therefore apply for the first time to the monthly and quarterly Scheme A reports relating to the month and quarter following the United Kingdom's exit from the EU.
If the United Kingdom does not leave, the current reporting modalities will remain in effect and until further notice.
A copy of this circular is sent to the auditor(s), approved auditor(s) of your institution.
We ask you to accept, Madam, Sir, the expression of our distinguished sentiments.
