Addressing and Preventing Fraud Related to FAIS Regulatory Examinations

FSPs must verify the authenticity of their key individuals' and representatives' RE certificates directly with Moonstone or the FSCA, submitting the candidate's ID or passport, certificate(s) and written consent to businesscentre@fsca.co.za or faisexam@moonstoneinfo.co.za, and must ensure any verification agency does the same. They must confirm representatives passed the required REs, report fake or altered certificates to the FSCA immediately, and may reject or debar the candidate. Fraudulent RE activity carries debarment, regulatory action and criminal sanctions.
