Adoption of Extended Operating Hours on ZIPSS and CSD
The Bank of Zambia permanently adopts extended operating hours for the Zambia Interbank Payment and Settlement System (ZIPSS) and the Central Securities Depository (CSD) effective April 1, 2025, following a successful six-month pilot. The revised schedule establishes Monday through Friday operations from 07:00 to 19:30 hours and Saturday operations from 08:00 to 14:30 hours, with systems remaining closed on all gazetted public holidays. Commercial banks must align their customer payment platforms with these new hours, as the central bank plans to review the schedule in December 2025 with the long-term objective of achieving 24/7 system availability.
