Assessment of Asset-Intensive Reinsurance Contracts DNB

Insurance undertakings must obtain prior consent from DNB before entering into or amending asset-intensive reinsurance contracts that allow the reinsurance undertaking to hold assets outside the European Economic Area. The regulator assesses these applications to ensure compliance with the prudent person principle throughout the contract term, requiring specific documentation including valuation approaches, collateral agreements, and credit risk analyses. While proportional reinsurance of policies with capital accumulation is generally considered asset-intensive, risk insurance without capital accumulation is exempt, and non-material contracts may submit summarized information.
