The decree abolishes the mandatory written declaration requirement for individuals bringing in or taking out cash foreign currency up to an equivalent of USD 2,000 and eliminates the need for commercial bank permits to export such amounts. It establishes that exports of cash foreign currency up to USD 5,000 are permitted without any licenses, while amounts exceeding this limit require a license from the Central Bank for residents or proof of lawful acquisition via passenger customs declarations for non-residents. Imports of cash foreign currency into Uzbekistan are unrestricted, though any amount exceeding USD 2,000 must be declared in writing. The document also repeals several prior presidential decrees regulating these transactions.
