CONCERNING
AMANDMENT OF BANK INDONESIA REGULATION NUMBER 3/19/PBI/2001 CONCERNING ISSUANCE AND CIRCULATION OF THE YEAR 2001 BANKNOTES IN THE 5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND) DENOMINATION BY THE GRACE OF THE GOD THE ALMIGHTY THE GOVERNOR OF BANK INDONESIA, Considering: a. Whereas the issuance and circulation of Rupiah is addressed to provide cash in society as an instrument of payment (legal tender); b. Whereas to optimalize the function of element on currency in the
5.000 (five thousand) Rupiah denomination as a legal tender in
Indonesia, it is deemed necessary to enhance the design of Rupiah currency especially for the signature in bank notes, the placement of year of issue or year of emission, and the year of print;
c. Now therefore, based on the considerations referred to in letter a
and letter b, it is necessary to amend Bank Indonesia Regulation concerning Issuance and Circulation of the Year 2001 Issue of Banknotes in the 5,000 (five thousand) Rupiah Denomination; In view of: 1. Act of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 66 of 1999, Supplement to the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3843) as amended by Act of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2009 (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2009, Supplement to the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4962);

9/10/PBI/2007 (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 113 of 2007, Supplement to State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 4762); HAS DECREED To enact : AMANDMENT OF BANK INDONESIA REGULATION NUMBER 3/19/PBI/2001CONCERNING ISSUANCE AND CIRCULATION OF THE YEAR 2001 BANKNOTES IN THE 5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND) DENOMINATION.
Article I
Some articles in Bank Indonesia Regulation Number 3/19/PBI/2001 concerning issuance and circulation of the year 2001 banknotes in the 5,000 (five thousand) denomination (State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia Number 131 of 2001) are amended to read as follows:
1. Article 4 is amended to read as follows:
Article 4
The specifications of the currency in the 5,000 (five thousand) rupiah denomination referred to in Article 1 are:
1. Color
a. Obverse side is printed in green, violet, pink, light brown and dark brown; b. Reverse side is printed in light brown, violet, dark brown, green, black, and reddish-brown.

a. Obverse side
1) Main image of Hero of the Independence Struggle Tuanku Imam
Bondjol, and underneath, the inscription of “TUANKU IMAM BONDJOL”;
2) To the left of the main image, inscribed horizontally, the number
“5000”, a rectoverso image that if held up to the light will reveal a complete logo of Bank Indonesia, rosette-shaped embossing with inkles printed, anti photocopy in form of “RI”, anti photo-reproduction in form of recurring and alternating “BI”, inscription “BANK INDONESIA”, and inscription “LIMA RIBU RUPIAH”;
3) To the right of the main image, a latent image of “BI” logo, visible from
a certain angle, the national emblem of the “Garuda Pancasila”, the number “5000” inscribed vertically, year of printing “2009” (number “2009” changes in accordance with year printing), inscription “DEWAN GUBERNUR”, signature of Governor of Bank Indonesia with inscription of “GUBERNUR” (governor) and signature of Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia with inscription of “DEPUTI GUBERNUR” (Deputy Governor), and inscription “PERUM PERCETAKAN UANG RI IMP” and year of issuance or year of emission “2001”;
4) Background and filler consist of:
a) Curve and circle line forming flower ornament; b) Wavy, vertical, and horizontal Guilloche lines forming ornament; c) Horizontal and vertical lines consist of non-space recurring microtext “BANKINDONESIA5000”; d) Ornament of Tengkuluak from Minangkabau, West Sumatera; b. Reverse side
1) Main image of weaving crafter;
2) Below the main image, inscription “DENGAN RAHMAT TUHAN YANG
MAHA ESA, BANK INDONESIA MENGELUARKAN UANG SEBAGAI ALAT PEMBAYARAN YANG SAH DENGAN NILAI LIMA RIBU RUPIAH” (with the blessing of God the Almighty, Bank Indonesia hereby issues this currency as legal tender to the value of five thousand rupiahs),

3) To the left of main image, inscribed vertically the number “5000”,
serial number consisting of 3 (three) letters and 6 (six) digits printed in black ink that glows yellowish green under ultraviolet light, invisibly printed inscription of the number “5000” glows greenness-yellow under ultraviolet light;
4) To the right of main image, inscription “BANK INDONESIA”, serial
number consisting of 3 (three) letters and 6 (six) digits printed in red ink which glows yellowish-red under ultraviolet light, partially rectoverso image that if held up to the light will reveal a complete logo “BI”, anti-photocopy inscription of “RI”, inscription “ PENGRAJIN TENUN PANDAI SIKEK – SUMATERA BARAT” (Pandai Sikek Woven Crafter – West Sumatera), horizontally inscribed “5000”;
5) As background and filler:
a) Wavy guilloche lines; b) Non-space recurring microtext of “BANKINDONESIA”; c) Wavy, circle lines forming flower ornament; d) Horizontal, vertical, curve, and circle lines consist of inscription “RI”; e) Ornament of Tengkuluak from Minangkabau West Sumatera.
3. Material
Material used is 100% (one hundred percent) cotton fiber with specification as follows:
a. 143 mm length and 65 mm width; b. Cream (yellowish-white) color;
c. Does not glow under ultraviolet light;
d. Watermark comprising the image of Hero of the Independence Struggle Cut Nyak Meutia; e. Woven security thread made of transparent plastic consisting of black microtext of “BANK INDONESIA”, complete or partially cut, and glows green and yellow in turn under ultraviolet light;

2. One article, Article 5 A, is inserted between Article 5 and Article 6, to read as
follows:
Article 5 A
The 5,000 (five thousand) Rupiah denomination issued by Bank Indonesia before the enactment of this Bank Indonesia Regulation, are declared still remain as a legal tender along has not been revoked and withdrawn from circulation.
Article II
This regulation of Bank Indonesia shall come into force on the date of its enactment. So everyone knows, it is ordered that this rule be published in the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia.
