Bank of England appoints Rhys Phillips as the new Chief Cashier

The Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey announced that Rhys Phillips will become the new Chief Cashier and Director of Notes, taking up the role on 19 October 2026. In this position, Phillips will be responsible for the production of high-quality, secure banknotes for public use. He succeeds Victoria Cleland, who is stepping away from the Bank after 35 years of service, including over a decade in the Notes area.
