Beneficiaries of the social security program, including old-age, disability, and widow allowances, may open bank accounts in their own names by depositing 10 Taka, provided they present a National Identity Card or a passbook with a PPPO number. Banks are prohibited from imposing minimum balance requirements or charging any fees for these accounts. In the absence of a checkbook, transactions may be conducted via vouchers. This directive is effective immediately.
