CB Circular 22/2012 Issuance of Guidelines for Handling Coins and Bank Notes
The Bank of Zambia issued guidelines to assist commercial banks in managing the reintroduction of coins following the rebasing of the Zambian Kwacha. These guidelines address the necessary equipment and packaging for market participants while establishing processing fees for depositing fit coins at the central bank. The fees do not apply to the withdrawal of old coins from circulation as part of the currency transition.
