The Central Bank of Iceland resumes regular foreign currency purchases in the interbank foreign exchange market, buying 6 million euros per week split into 3 million euro transactions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The programme runs from 12 May 2026 to 15 October 2026, totaling 138 million euros, with purchases shifting to the next business day if a scheduled date falls on a holiday. These purchases aim to meet the Treasury’s ordinary foreign currency needs and maintain international reserves above the minimum deemed desirable, while the Bank retains the right to intervene to mitigate short-term exchange rate volatility.
