The Bank of Mexico terminates existing monetary regulation deposits held by multiple banking institutions and establishes a new mandatory deposit requirement totaling 150 billion Mexican pesos. Institutions must deposit 100 billion pesos on September 26, 2002, followed by daily deposits of 10 billion pesos for the subsequent five banking days, allocated proportionally based on traditional national currency capture as of June 30. These indefinite-term deposits accrue interest payable every 28 days, calculated using a specific formula based on the weighted interbank funding rate.
