To all credit institutions and to the financial services of the Post and Telecommunications company

Subject: Foreign direct investment surveys

Dear Sirs, Madams,

In accordance with the provisions of the single article of the law of June 28, 2000, amending the Grand Ducal regulation of November 10, 1944, as amended, relating to exchange control, the Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) and the Central Service for Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) are jointly responsible for the compilation of the balance of payments and the global external position of Luxembourg. Paragraph 1 of the single article of the aforementioned law indicates, among other things, that STATEC is responsible for foreign direct investment surveys. Within the framework of the collaboration between these two institutions, the BCL is responsible for statistical data collection from credit institutions and the Post and Telecommunications company.

The foreign direct investment surveys concern all direct investment relationships that the respondents have established in their capacity as subsidiaries, affiliated enterprises, or branches of a non-resident investor or with their own subsidiaries, affiliated enterprises, or branches established abroad.

The questionnaires and the explanatory notes relating thereto can be downloaded, in French and English, from the BCL website (www.bcl.lu).

In the event of discrepancies between the French and English texts, the French version shall prevail.
