The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic establishes minimum passive rates for fixed-term deposits in pesos from the non-financial private sector, set at 97.5% of the Monetary Policy Rate for deposits up to $10 million and 92.5% for larger amounts, effective January 7, 2022. It repeals previous minimum rate provisions and substitutes the fixed prepayment rate formula for early cancellation with a new calculation based on 85% of the Monetary Policy Rate. Effective January 10, 2022, the regulations on minimum cash requirements are adjusted to allow financial entities to hold net positions in BCRA Liquidity Notes (LELIQ) of shorter or longer terms based on their deposit composition, while increasing the deduction percentage for SME financing to 30% and updating the deduction table. Additionally, the maximum compensatory interest rate for credit card-linked financings is raised to 49% nominal annual, and the rate for SME productive investment financing is increased to 41% nominal annual fixed.
