Circular No. 11/2018 specifies the non-banking activities that credit institutions in Burundi may exercise, including acting as agents, brokers, or commissionnaires, providing services extending banking operations, managing non-operational real estate, and offering auxiliary services. These activities must be compatible with banking profession requirements, including reputation and depositor protection, and must comply with applicable legislative and regulatory conditions. The annual revenue from these authorized non-banking activities is capped at 10% of the institution's net banking income. This circular replaces Circular No. 11/06 and entered into force upon publication on the Central Bank's website and in the Official Bulletin of Burundi.
