Circular No. 2262 — Establishes Additional Procedures for Opening Checking Accounts

Financial institutions must verify proposal form information against competent documentation and maintain copies in their registers. They must include a signed administrator declaration on every form and prohibit checkbook provision until verification is complete or existing irregularities are resolved. Institutions must immediately report severe occurrences to the Central Bank of Brazil. Non-compliance constitutes a serious offense under Law No. 4,595, without prejudice to other sanctions. This circular enters into force upon publication.
