CIRCULAR N. 002856 ------------------ Amends the base value For the granting of financial assistance to multiple banks with commercial portfolios, commercial banks and savings banks. The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Brazil, in a session held on 18.01.99, based on art. 5 of Resolution No. 2.308, of 28.08.96, D E C I D E D: Art. 1 Temporarily reduce, by 100% (one hundred per- cent), from 19.01.1999 to 03.03.1999, the base value of the financial assistance operations, calculated as established by Resolution No. 2.308, of 28.08.96, and Circular No. 2.830, of 12.08.98. ART. 2 The eventual outstanding balances of the operations in question, arising from withdrawals made up to this date, must be settled on 19.01.1999. Art. 3 The withdrawals made in the financial assistance operations, from 19.01.1999, are subject to financial charges, observing the base value hereby established. Art. 4 This Circular enters into force on the date of its publi- cation.
