Credit institutions in Malta and Gozo must maintain a minimum of 50% of their normal weekday branch capacity and 25% on Saturdays, while ATMs and cheque paying-in machines remain available for use. The MFSA encourages customers to utilize phone or digital banking services and recommends visiting branches on weekdays to avoid queues, with social distancing measures to be observed. Additionally, at least one branch or agency in Gozo is required to be open on Saturdays, and Directive 17 issued on 25 March 2020 introduces temporary measures to alleviate pressure on cheque encashment.
