Until legislative guidelines are issued, existing agreements between medical aid funds and administrators regarding healthcare consultant payments must be adhered to, provided they do not contravene current legislation. Contracts that do not violate current law are deemed legally binding, and the parties involved are responsible for honoring these agreements. The regulator states it has no mandate to intervene in legal contractual issues among other legal entities. A final decision on this matter will be made at a meeting scheduled for September 30, 2002.
