The Central Bank of Jordan mandates that returned check commissions for customers are fixed at 20 Jordanian Dinars for the first returned check and 40 Jordanian Dinars for the second returned check, with no permitted variation. Banks are required to charge these fees directly to the drawer's account, or if insufficient funds exist, to record the fee on the account, and must incorporate these terms into their contracts under penalty of liability. This directive applies to all banks operating in the Kingdom and supersedes previous commission amounts under the Customer Dealing Instructions No. (56/2012).

Circular to Banks Operating in the Kingdom
Greetings,
With reference to the Customer Dealing Instructions No. (56/2012) dated 31/10/2012, we wish to emphasize that the returned check commission amount for insufficient/insufficient balance in the customer's account, as per the attached table in the aforementioned instructions, is (20) Dinars for the first returned check on the customer's account and (40) Dinars for the second returned check on the customer's account, whether it is the same check or any other check, without any increase or decrease in the commission amount.
We note the necessity of collecting the commission from the customer's (drawer's) account, and if there is no balance in the account, the account statement must be issued and the commission charged to the customer's (drawer's) account, whether it is a counter check or a clearing check, with the necessity of including the terms stated in the circular in the contracts, under penalty of liability.
Please accept our highest respect,
The Governor
