Clarification of Property Asset Class in Regulation 13(1)

The Registrar of Pension Funds clarifies that the property asset class under Regulation 13(1) includes immovable property and shares, loans, and debentures of property companies, regardless of whether these securities are listed on a stock exchange. Investments in any single property or development project are limited to 5 percent of a fund's total assets, with an overall maximum of 25 percent for the entire asset class. A property company is defined as one where at least 50 percent of its market value or gross income derives from immovable property. These limits apply to all registered pension funds organizations in Namibia effective 04 July 2019.
