Climate-related risks integrated into fit and proper assessments

De Nederlandsche Bank has integrated climate-related and environmental risks into its fit and proper assessments for proposed management and supervisory board members. Financial institutions must now include information on candidates' knowledge and experience regarding these risks in their assessment files. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to define, identify, monitor, and manage climate risks, as well as understand relevant legislation and their impact on the institution. The depth of required knowledge is proportional to the candidate's specific role and the institution's risk profile.
