Financial institutions and entities supervised by the BCB and CVM may microfilm and eliminate operational documents, provided they maintain accessible, ordered archives and observe banking secrecy norms. They must produce two mandatory microfilm rolls (common and security archives in separate locations), ensure quality control, and prepare documents by removing staples and indexing them. Authenticity requires specific opening, closing, and observation images containing institutional details, operator signatures, and declarations of compliance. Elimination is permitted only after a formal destruction register is signed and kept available for supervision; violations risk loss of authenticity and penalties under Law 4,595/64.
