Comments on the Guidance on the Procedure for Conducting Deposit Operations in Banks of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan approved a new Guidance document on 31 December 2010, effective 4 March, which replaces the 1998 Regulation on Deposits and the 2008 Instruction on Cash Operations. This Guidance establishes detailed rules for commercial banks regarding the attraction, repayment, interest calculation, and control of deposits for legal and physical persons. It introduces new concepts such as "Deposit Department" and "Inactive Deposits," classifies deposits into four types, and mandates specific documentation and internal control procedures for deposit operations.
