Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1979 on reporting templates for credit transfer charges and rejected transactions

The European Commission adopted Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1979 to establish uniform reporting templates, instructions, and methodology for Payment Service Providers (PSPs) to report on the level of charges for credit transfers, instant credit transfers, and payment accounts, as well as the share of rejected transactions. PSPs are required to submit annual aggregate data using specific templates defined in Annex I, covering breakdowns by transaction type, currency, and customer category, with the first harmonized report covering the period from 26 October 2022 to 31 December 2022. The regulation mandates that reports be submitted to competent authorities by 31 December of the calendar year preceding the submission year, utilizing data formats and validation formulae provided by the European Banking Authority. This regulation entered into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
