Computer Misuse Act, 2000
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago enacts legislation prohibiting unauthorized access, use, or interference with computer systems and data. The Act defines specific offenses including unauthorized access, modification, interception, obstruction, and disclosure of access codes, establishing penalties ranging from fines of fifteen thousand dollars and two years imprisonment to enhanced penalties of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars and ten years for offenses involving protected computers. It grants police officers powers to search premises and seize evidence under warrant, while also providing for court-ordered compensation for damages caused by these offenses.
