DCM Circular Letter No. 03: Providing note detection services by the officials of scheduled banks to the cattle traders in Qurbani haat for prevention of fake notes
The Department of Currency Management of Bangladesh Bank directs scheduled banks to establish note detection booths at approved cattle markets in Dhaka and other districts to prevent the circulation of counterfeit currency during the Eid-ul-Adha 2023 period. Banks are required to deploy experienced cash officers to provide free note verification and cash counting services using detection machines from the start of the market until the night before Eid. The circular specifies assigned banks for markets in Dhaka North and South City Corporations, mandates coordination with local authorities and law enforcement for security, and requires banks to submit a report on their activities within 15 working days after the completion of Eid-ul-Adha.
