Determination on Minimum Liquid Assets

The Bank of Namibia issues Determination BID-6, which requires all authorized banks in Namibia to hold liquid assets averaging at least 10 percent of their total public liabilities for the preceding month, with daily holdings never falling below 75 percent of that average. Banks must maintain these assets from the 15th of the reporting month to the 14th of the following month and report compliance by the 26th of the subsequent month, while also adhering to specific valuation haircuts for debt securities and reporting immediate shortfalls. This determination repeals the previous Minimum Liquid Assets Determination (BID-6) and becomes effective on 1 December 2014.
