The National Bank of Ethiopia mandates that commercial banks provide foreign exchange to cover inland freight costs for goods transported by trucks owned by Djibouti nationals to and from Djibouti. Licensed transit and forwarding agents must submit specific documentation, including truck way bills, voyage permits, and proof of Djiboutian nationality, to obtain this approval for both imports and exports. Commercial banks are required to submit weekly copies of these approved applications to the National Bank of Ethiopia. These directives entered into force on June 1, 2000.
