The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka issued this directive to amend the market stability framework by introducing a three-tiered circuit breaker structure for the S&P SL20 Index. The new mechanism mandates a 30-minute trading halt if the index drops by 5%, a second halt for an additional 2.5% decline, and a full market closure if the total drop reaches 10%. The Colombo Stock Exchange is directed to implement these measures immediately upon market reopening and to notify all participants accordingly.
