The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) advises depositories to discontinue accepting the MAPIN card as a valid Proof of Identity for opening Beneficial Owner accounts, following the discontinuation of the Unique Identification Number requirement. Depositories must immediately amend their bye-laws, rules, and regulations to implement this change and ensure compliance by disseminating the provisions to Depository Participants. Additionally, depositories are required to monitor compliance and communicate the implementation status to SEBI.
