All scheduled banks must keep their regional offices and branches closed on Tuesday, 23 May 2017, in specific election areas of Bangladesh. This closure applies to areas where postponed general elections for Union Parishads or Pourashavas are scheduled, specifically Chinaduli Union in Islampur Upazila (Jamalpur), Sutipara Union in Dhamrai Upazila (Dhaka), Khetlal Pourashava (Jaypurhat), Permol Uttar in Sadar Dakshin Upazila (Comilla), and Kalamarchara Union in Maheshkhali Upazila (Cox's Bazar). The directive is issued in response to a memo from the Ministry of Public Administration dated 22 May 2017.
