End of Transitional Period for Crypto Asset Service Providers in Estonia
Finantsinspektsioon and the Financial Intelligence Unit announce that from 1 July 2026, crypto asset services in Estonia may only be provided by entities authorized under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The Financial Intelligence Unit will cancel existing virtual currency service licenses, requiring unauthorised companies to cease new client acquisition and limit activities to protect client interests. Providers must clearly communicate service termination or limitation plans to clients, who are advised to verify authorisation status via the Finantsinspektsioon register.
