Promotion Presentation Standards for Collective Investment Schemes
The Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission has issued mandatory promotion presentation standards to regulate how Collective Investment Schemes advertise performance data in media releases and promotional materials. The framework prohibits misleading annualized or selected-period returns, mandates the disclosure of standardized 1-, 3-, and 5-year actual returns net of fees, and requires prominent disclaimers regarding past performance and prospectus availability. By enforcing strict consistency between advertisements and filed prospectuses, the regulations aim to eliminate information asymmetry, ensure fair and comparable performance reporting, and align local marketing practices with international IOSCO guidelines.
