Exporter’s Retention Quotas (ERQs) under Section IV, Chapter 13 of the Guidelines for Foreign Exchange Transactions-2009 are increased for exports of high domestic value added merchandise to 60 percent from 50 percent, for merchandise exports of high import contents to 15 percent from 10 percent, and for export of services to 60 percent from 50 percent of repatriated export receipts. These enhanced quotas allow exporters to retain specified parts of their export earnings in foreign exchange for bonafide business expenses abroad without prior Bangladesh Bank approval. The instructions are effective immediately for all Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange in Bangladesh.
