Finance Act 2018
The Act introduces interim pension payments of three thousand five hundred dollars per month for compulsorily retired persons eligible for pensions under various legislative services, diplomatic service, judges, prison service, national lotteries, general pensions, widows’ and orphans, municipal corporations, fire service, teachers, and assisted secondary school teachers acts. It amends the State Liability and Proceedings Act to extend the time limit for serving certificates from twenty-one to one hundred and twenty days. The Litter Act increases various fines, raising maximum penalties from four thousand to eight thousand dollars and further fines from eight hundred to one thousand six hundred dollars. Additionally, the Children Act doubles several monetary penalties, such as increasing fines from fifty thousand to one hundred thousand dollars, and the Public Assistance Act sets new assistance amounts for persons over and under eighteen years old.
