Financial Action Task Force Public Statement on Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran and Myanmar (High-Risk Jurisdictions subject to a Call for Action) 30 October 2026

Applies to: All regulated firms

The FATF's 30 October 2026 statement confirms that its calls for action of 21 February 2020 on the DPRK and Iran, and of 21 October 2022 on Myanmar, remain in effect. It urges all jurisdictions to apply enhanced due diligence, and in the most serious cases countermeasures, to business relationships and transactions with the DPRK, Iran and Myanmar. For the DPRK it calls for terminating correspondent relationships with DPRK banks, closing their subsidiaries or branches, and limiting business relationships and financial transactions with DPRK persons. For Iran it calls for effective countermeasures under Recommendation 19, including refusing or prohibiting establishment of branches, subsidiaries and representative offices of financial institutions and virtual asset service providers, limiting business relationships or financial transactions on a risk basis, and prohibiting new correspondent relationships. For Myanmar it calls for enhanced due diligence, with countermeasures to be considered if no further progress is made by February 2027.
