The Securities Commission of The Bahamas informs licensees and registrants that the Financial Action Task Force has updated its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, adding Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraq while reviewing progress for Algeria, Angola, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Kuwait, Lao PDR, Lebanon, Monaco, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, the Virgin Islands (UK), and Yemen. The Commission requires these entities to incorporate the money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing risks associated with the identified jurisdictions into their risk assessments for business relationships and transactions. Although the FATF does not mandate enhanced due diligence measures for these jurisdictions, the notice specifies that reporting for Haiti and Syria has been deferred, meaning previous statements may not reflect their current status.
