Financial System Remains Solid and Stable

The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador reports that the national financial system maintained stability and uninterrupted intermediary functions during the first five months of 2026. Credit balances reached US$21.626 billion, an 8.1% year-over-year increase driven by a 10.5% expansion in business financing and a 5.6% rise in household credit. Prudential indicators remained robust with a 1.6% delinquency rate and a 15.1% solvency ratio, resulting in a net profit of US$202.9 million by the end of May 2026.
