The Reserve Bank of India amends the Foreign Exchange Management (Cross Border Merger) Regulations, 2018, by omitting clause (vii) of regulation 2 and inserting a new definition for 'Competent Authority' as any authority empowered under the Companies Act, 2013 to approve a scheme of merger or amalgamation. The amendment further substitutes the term 'NCLT' with 'Competent Authority' wherever it appears in regulations 4, 5, 7, and 9 of the Principal Regulations. These changes come into force upon their publication in the Official Gazette.
